Mark E bitsk

The Fall-sångaren är en rolig farbror. För ett år sedan fick han i The Independent in en bredsida mot det aktuella musikutbudet och delade ut några kängor åt banden The Killers och Mumford and Sons.

“Even pop, rock, it’s all very miserable right now. Everyone I meet says that to me. All that I hear is that it’s shit. Old people, young people, taxi drivers; there’s just nothing there. ‘When will the new Sex Pistols come, Mark?’ It’s not going to happen, is it? It’s not. The occasions I go to award shows, they’re just a bunch of shits. You sit next to The Killers, and it’s like, am I on the wrong fucking train here? No, really. Talking about shares and stuff. Mumford & Sons, it’s like sitting next to Ernst & Young.”

Just det anticeptiska fjompbandet Mumford and Sons verkar han ha hakat upp sig på. Han flög på dem i en australiensisk dagstidning redan 2010:

”We were playing a festival in Dublin the other week. There was this other group, like, warming up in the next sort of chalet, and they were terrible. I said, ‘Shut them cunts up!’ And they were still warming up, so I threw a bottle at them. The bands said, ‘That’s the Sons of Mumford’ or something. ‘They’re number five in charts!’ I just thought they were a load of retarded Irish folk singers.”
